what are /dev/zd* nodes?

Hi devsk,

those are the block devices for your zvols. You'll notice that /dev/zvol
contains symlinks to those (which are maintained by udev), e.g.:

root at vz3:~# ls -l /dev/zvol/backup/mars/
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 2011-05-11 22:14 testvol -> ../../../zd0
root at vz3:~# ls -l /dev/zd0
brw-rw---- 1 root disk 230, 0 2011-05-11 22:14 /dev/zd0
root at vz3:~#
