Hello !

Hmm, let me think, I had never the required ROOT keyword ..
like in your grub.

Thanks a lot ! I'll retry again!

Regards,
Manfred

Subject: Re: [zfs-discuss] ZFS on boot: Which kernel parameters

When I was botting ZFS on gentoo, with a pool named "tank" and "tank/gentoo/root" dataset as the mountpoint for "/" mine looked like this:

/etc/boot.conf
"Gentoo ZFS" {
        kernel kernel[-v]
        initrd initramfs-genkernel-x86_64[-v]
        params real_root=ZFS=tank/gentoo/root
        params += dozfs=force
}

that gave me a grub.cfg with final two lines that looked like:
linux  /kernel-X.XX.X-gentoo root=ZFS=tank/gentoo/root dozfs=force ro
initrd /initramfs-genkernel-x86_64-X.XX.X

I had LUKS encryption working also, but I think that only added like "crypt_root = /dev/whatever" params line also, which I removed for clarity. Is that helpful?

Hello !

I am stuck with a arch setup with ZFS on boot. Though most things,
except for grub, looks good, but the machines does not boot, if ZFS
is not on "/". I have: " syspool/base/grid-1".

If I start from scratch and import the pool,
everthings looks like experienced. So probably,
passing the boot-fs to the kernel might be the
problem?

menuentry "Arch Linux" {
    search --no-floppy --label --set=root syspool/base/grid-1
    linux /vmlinuz-linux zfs=syspool/base/grid-1 rw zfs_force=1
    initrd /initramfs-linux.img
}

This menuentry was manually generated, and I suspect, there
lies a problem.

If someone could give me a hint, this will be very welcomed!

Thanks anayway and best regards,
Manfred
