Huh? Lack of ECC is limited to AMD APUs, Intel consumer ranges & most
of ARMs. Everything else has ECC, including some Pentium and i3
targeted at entry-level servers (they are effectively dual-core Xeons
with a different name). Even server-oriented Atoms have ECC support.
Lack of ECC is merely a way for Intel to force serious customers into
higher-end platforms.

AMD consumer platforms (AM*) do offer ECC; even a lowly M5A97 LE
advertise it: <https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/specifications/>.
Unfortunately man manufacturers are too dumb to add proper support
despite the HW supporting it :-( Hopefully, the upcoming AMD Zen
(Ryzen) consumer platform will also support ECC (it seems it's going
to share a die with the server CPU, so...).

Cordially,
