After a reboot, one of my servers came up with the 4.3 kernel. I
compiled spl and zfs but it's not working... I went back to the 4.2
kernel but it still does not work.

root at dev:~/source# uname -a
Linux dev 4.2.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.2.6-3 (2015-12-06) x86_64 GNU/Linux

root at dev:~/source/zfs# zpool status
The ZFS modules are not loaded.
Try running '/sbin/modprobe zfs' as root to load them.

I compiled both spl and zfs for 4.2 and 4.3 with
./autogen.sh && ./configure && make deb-utils deb-kmod && dpkg -i *deb

Any idea what I have to do to get a working zfs?

I even tried the DKMS packages (I have had horrible luck with these in
the past) but it just gives this:

root at dev:~/source# dpkg -i zfsonlinux_6_all.deb
Selecting previously unselected package zfsonlinux.

Preparing to unpack zfsonlinux_6_all.deb ...

dpkg: error processing package zfsonlinux (--install):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 zfsonlinux

No idea why it thinks it can't create /etc/apt/sources.list.d/zfsonlinux.list:
root at dev:~/source# touch /etc/apt/sources.list.d/zfsonlinux.list
root at dev:~/source# rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/zfsonlinux.list
root at dev:~/source#

My guess it only knows the goofy Toy Story aliases and not the actual
release (Testing). I have no idea what Testing is aliased to this
week.

Thank for the help. :)
